Reckless and Careless Driving
Iowa Code § 321.277 — willful or wanton disregard for the safety of people or property
Driving in a way that shows willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property is reckless driving, a simple misdemeanor.
- Careless driving is intentionally causing unnecessary tire squealing, skidding or sliding.
- It is also simulating a temporary race, or making wheels lose contact with the ground unnecessarily.
- It is also making the vehicle turn abruptly or sway unnecessarily.
