Stalking
Iowa Code § 708.11 — a first offense is an aggravated misdemeanor, a second a class D felony
- Stalking is purposefully engaging in a course of conduct aimed at a specific person that would make a reasonable person feel terrorized, frightened, intimidated or threatened.
- A course of conduct means repeatedly staying near a person without legitimate purpose, repeatedly using a device to locate, listen to or watch the person, or repeatedly conveying threats.
- Repeatedly means on two or more occasions.
A first offense is an aggravated misdemeanor and a second a class D felony; circumstances such as violating a protective order make it a class C felony.
