Buying Alcohol for a Minor
KRS 530.070 — giving or buying alcohol for a minor is a Class A misdemeanor
Unlawful transaction with a minor in the third degree is, other than as a licensed retailer, knowingly selling, giving, buying or procuring alcohol for a minor. It is also knowingly inducing or helping a minor into other crime or habitual truancy. It is a Class A misdemeanor.
- The alcohol part does not apply to the minor's own parent or guardian.
- A defendant may show the sale was induced by false identification and the buyer looked of age.
No one may help a person under twenty one buy alcohol or be served it.
