KRS 337.060 — no fines, shared till shortages, breakage or unsigned losses taken out of wages
An employer may not withhold any part of the agreed wage, except as law authorizes or as the employee expressly authorizes in writing for insurance premiums, medical dues and similar items.
- No deduction for fines.
- No deduction for cash shortages in a till used by two or more people, or for breakage.
- No deduction for bad checks an employee had discretion to accept.
- No deduction for faulty work, lost or stolen property, damage, or unpaid customer credit, unless it came from the employee's willful or intentional disregard of the employer's interest.
An employer of ten or more who makes deductions gives each employee, at each payday, a paper or electronic statement of every deduction and its general purpose, with access to a computer and printer if the statement is electronic.
