KRS 186.450 — a permit at fifteen, and an intermediate license after 180 days and 60 hours of practice
- A person at least fifteen years of age may apply for an instruction permit; under eighteen, a parent or legal guardian signs the application.
- A permit applicant under eighteen enrolls in a driver training program: a school district course, a licensed driving school, or state traffic school.
The intermediate license. A person under eighteen may apply for an intermediate license after reaching sixteen, holding the permit at least 180 days without a listed violation, and presenting a parent's statement of at least 60 hours of supervised driving, ten of them at night, with a licensed driver at least 21.
