The Registration Calendar
G.L. c. 6, § 178E — registration by mail not later than ten days before establishing a new residence
Ten days before. A sex offender required to register who intends to move to a different city or town in the commonwealth registers by mailing to the board not later than ten days prior to establishing the new residence. A change of address within a city or town is notified in writing not later than ten days prior.
Leaving, or arriving. A sex offender who intends to move out of the commonwealth notifies the board not later than ten days before leaving. One who moves in from another jurisdiction registers within two days of moving in.
Who must register, for how long, and the penalty for failing to report are set out in other parts of the law that are not on this page. Whether a deadline applies to a particular person is a question for a licensed Massachusetts attorney.
