The Golf Cart On The Street
Mo. Rev. Stat. § 304.034 — city streets by ordinance, never along a state or federal highway
By city ordinance. A municipality's governing body may by resolution or ordinance allow golf carts on streets under its jurisdiction. A golf cart is never operated on a state or federal highway, except to cross where it intersects a municipal street, and never crosses at an intersection where the highway's posted limit is more than forty-five miles per hour.
The cart. Golf carts on city streets have adequate brakes and meet any other safety requirements the city sets, and are not subject to registration. A golf cart here is one designed for a golf course and not capable of exceeding twenty miles per hour.
Low-speed vehicles registered as motor vehicles, all-terrain and utility vehicles, private roads, and the local ordinance itself are outside this page. Whether a particular street is designated, and what the local rules require, are questions for the local government or a licensed Missouri attorney.
