When You Cannot Pay
Mo. Rev. Stat. § 558.006 — a defaulted fine collected like a judgment, or waived
Collection, not a lien on a home. When an offender defaults on a fine or an installment, it is collected by any means authorized for collecting money judgments, other than a lien against real estate.
Or waived. The fine or installment may instead be waived at the discretion of the sentencing judge.
Restitution to a victim, license holds for unpaid fines, and the constitutional rule against jailing someone only for being poor are not set out on this page. What a court will do in a particular case is a question for a licensed Missouri attorney.
