Your Phone Behind The Wheel
Neb. Rev. Stat. § 60-6,179.01 — no reading, typing or sending a text while moving, enforced only alongside another violation
Not while moving. No one may use a handheld wireless device to read, manually type or send a written communication while operating a motor vehicle that is in motion, apart from officers, firefighters and emergency crews on duty, and emergencies.
Only alongside another violation. The rule is enforced only as a secondary action, when the driver has been cited or charged with another traffic violation or offense.
A violation is a traffic infraction with points on the license and a fine of two hundred dollars the first time, three hundred dollars the second, and five hundred dollars after that.
