Seat Belts
Neb. Rev. Stat. § 60-6,270 and Neb. Rev. Stat. § 60-6,267 — the driver and front seat, and everyone under eighteen
The driver and the front seat. No driver may operate a motor vehicle on a highway or street unless the driver and each front seat occupant are wearing properly adjusted and fastened occupant protection systems.
The driver also ensures that every child from eight to under eighteen in the vehicle uses an occupant protection system. A violation is an infraction with a fine of twenty-five dollars, and that rule is enforced only as a secondary action.
A person with a physician's written verification of a medical reason, rural mail carriers on their route, and emergency medical crews in patient care are outside the rule.
