Jury Duty And Your Job
N.J.S.A. 2B:20-17 — no penalty for jury service, and 90 days to sue
No penalty, no threats. In New Jersey, an employer may not penalize, threaten or coerce an employee because the employee is required to attend court for jury service. An employer who does commits a disorderly persons offense.
The employee may sue for economic damages and reinstatement within 90 days from the violation or the end of jury service, whichever is later, and recovers a reasonable attorney's fee on winning.
