Turning Eighteen

N.D.C.C. § 14-10-02 — adulthood at eighteen, and a year after to back out of most contracts made as a minor

Minors are those under eighteen, and everyone eighteen and over is an adult, counted from the first minute of the birthday.

  • Most contracts made as a minor may be disaffirmed by the minor before turning eighteen or within one year after.
  • A minor cannot disaffirm a contract to pay the reasonable value of necessaries, made when no parent or guardian was able to provide them.
