Unemployment After a Job Ends
N.D.C.C. § 52-06-02 — quitting without good cause or a firing for misconduct disqualifies until new earnings
A claimant is eligible for a week only after claiming it, registering for work, being able and available for suitable work and actively seeking it, and serving a waiting period of one week.
- Quitting without good cause attributable to the employer disqualifies until the person earns at least eight times the weekly benefit amount in new work.
- A discharge for misconduct disqualifies until the person earns at least ten times the weekly benefit amount.
- Refusing suitable work without good cause also disqualifies.
Twelve days to appeal. A claimant or other party may appeal a determination to the appeal tribunal within twelve days after the notice was mailed to the last known address, and gets a fair hearing.
Benefits cannot be assigned and are exempt from collection of most debts. A new claimant is told they are taxable and may choose withholding.
