Jury Duty And A Job
ORS 10.090 — no firing or threats for jury service, and no forced use of leave
An employer that discharges, threatens, intimidates or coerces an employee because of jury service, past or scheduled, commits an unlawful employment practice.
Unpaid leave, not vacation. An employer may not require an employee to use vacation, sick or annual leave for jury duty, and has to allow unpaid leave for it. Whether jury time is paid is left to the employer's own policies.
An employee may sue or file a complaint with the Bureau of Labor and Industries. Jurors are told of these rights when summoned.
