The Last Hundred Feet
75 Pa.C.S. 3334 — 100 feet under 35 miles per hour, 300 feet over it, and the signal off when the move is done
Two distances, by speed. At speeds of less than 35 miles per hour, a signal of intention to turn right or left is given continuously during not less than the last 100 feet before turning. At speeds in excess of 35 miles per hour, it is given during not less than the last 300 feet.
Lane changes, and pulling out. No person turns, moves from one traffic lane to another, or enters the traffic stream from a parked position unless the movement can be made with reasonable safety, and not without an appropriate signal; the signal is also given before entering traffic from a parked position.
Turning it off. Turn signals are discontinued immediately after completing the turn or the lane change.
What the signals are not for. They are not flashed on one side only of a disabled vehicle, or as a courtesy or do pass signal, or on one side only of a parked vehicle except as needed to comply with the section.
Hand and arm signals, and the equipment a vehicle must carry for them, are set out in neighboring sections that are not all on this page. What a particular stop or ticket means is a question for a licensed Pennsylvania attorney.
