Jury Duty and Your Job
R.I. Gen. Laws § 9-9-28 — no loss of the job, raises or benefits for serving, though the employer need not pay
No employer may cause an employee to lose their position, raises, promotions, longevity benefits or anything else from the job because they were called to jury duty.
Without a contract or bargaining agreement saying otherwise, the employer does not have to pay the employee for the time on jury duty.
A misdemeanor. A violation is a misdemeanor on conviction, on top of the employee's civil rights.
