Photo ID to Vote
R.I. Gen. Laws § 17-19-24.2 — a license, passport, school or military ID, or the free voter card, current or expired under six months
A voter at a primary, special or general election shows proof of identity, valid if unexpired or expired no more than six months.
- A Rhode Island driver's license or voter identification card.
- A United States passport.
- An identification card from a United States educational institution.
- A United States military identification card.
- An identification card issued by the United States or Rhode Island, or a government medical card.
A voter without identification may cast a provisional ballot under the section's rules. A particular question is one for the local board of canvassers.
