Motorcycles Between Lanes
Utah Code 41-6a-704 — filtering past stopped traffic at 15 miles per hour or less, never splitting
A motorcycle may filter past a vehicle stopped in the same lane only on a roadway or off ramp with two or more adjacent lanes in the same direction, where the speed limit is 45 miles per hour or less or on the off ramp, not on an on ramp, at 15 miles per hour or less, and when it can be done safely.
Who handles this in Utah: legal aid programs and the state offices, listed in the Utah directory.
Lane splitting, riding between marked lanes while traffic is moving, is not allowed. It is an infraction, and the officer may impound the vehicle.
