Driving Without a License
Utah Code 53-3-202 — an infraction the first time, and a class B misdemeanor after a conviction
No one may drive a motor vehicle on a highway in Utah without being licensed by the Driver License Division, unless an exception in the section applies.
Who handles this in Utah: legal aid programs and the state offices, listed in the Utah directory.
- A nonresident at least 16 years old who has a valid license from the home state or country in immediate possession may drive the classes of vehicle that license names.
- A driver under a learner permit, or with a temporary license certificate, is driving lawfully under the permit or certificate.
- A motorcycle takes a class D license and a motorcycle endorsement; a moped takes no endorsement; an electric assisted bicycle takes no license at all.
