Child Support
15 V.S.A. § 654 — a guideline amount presumed to be the parents' total support obligation
The Secretary of Human Services sets a child support guideline by rule, on the idea that children should get the same share of parental income after a separation as if the parents lived together. The guideline amount is presumed to be the parents' total support obligation, and the guideline is reviewed at least once every four years.
