Discrimination at Work
21 V.S.A. § 495 — harassment or discrimination for race, sex, age, disability, crime victim status and more
An employer, employment agency or labor organization may not harass or discriminate against anyone because of race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, place of birth, crime victim status or age, or against a qualified individual with a disability. Nor may a job notice state a preference on those grounds.
- The Attorney General or a State's Attorney may enforce it as though it were an unfair act in commerce.
- A person harmed may sue in Superior Court, and a court may order restitution of wages, reinstatement and other relief.
- The suit is due within six years after the cause of action accrues.
