Disorderly Conduct
13 V.S.A. § 1026 — fighting, unreasonable noise or abusive language meant to cause public annoyance, up to 60 days
Disorderly conduct is doing any of these with intent to cause public inconvenience or annoyance, or recklessly creating that risk:
- Fighting, or violent, tumultuous or threatening behavior.
- Unreasonable noise, or abusive or obscene language in a public place.
- Without lawful authority, disturbing a lawful assembly or meeting, including a meeting of a public body.
- Obstructing vehicle or pedestrian traffic.
It carries up to 60 days and $500, and 120 days and $1,000 for a second offense. Firing guns, blowing horns or other unnecessary noise between sunset and sunrise is a separate offense with a fine of not more than $50.
