- The minimum wage was $12.55 on January 1, 2022, and rises each January 1 by five percent or the consumer price index change, whichever is smaller; it never decreases.
- If the federal minimum is higher in a year, the federal rate applies.
- A service or tipped employee at a hotel, motel, tourist place or restaurant, who regularly gets more than $120 a month in tips, may be paid a base of not less than one-half the minimum wage.
- Work over 40 hours in a workweek is paid at least one and one-half times the regular rate, outside the listed exemptions such as retail and service establishments.
An employer may not retaliate against an employee for a complaint or testimony about the wage and hour rules.
