W. Va. Code § 3-1-34 — a license, passport, military or student ID, or a provisional ballot without one
- A West Virginia driver's license or DMV identification card.
- A driver's license from another state.
- A United States passport or passport card.
- A government employee ID, a military ID, or a West Virginia college or high school ID with a photo.
- A voter registration card with a photo from the county clerk, issued free.
Those are valid identifying documents at the polls, if they carry the voter's name.
Without one. A voter may instead come with an adult who has known them for at least six months and signs an affidavit, or vote if a poll worker has known them that long. Otherwise the voter may cast a provisional ballot after signing an affidavit of identity.
A provisional ballot counts once the signature is matched and eligibility confirmed. The county clerk answers questions about a particular ballot.
