Registering To Vote
W. Va. Code § 3-2-6 and W. Va. Code § 3-2-2 — closes 21 days before an election, at seventeen if eighteen by the general
The 21st day before. Registration closes on the 21st day before the election, or the next day that is not a weekend or legal holiday, at 11:59 p.m. online or at the close of business at the county clerk's office.
A citizen who lives in the county may register at eighteen, or at seventeen if they will be eighteen by the next general election, and may then vote in the primary.
An incomplete application turned in on time may be corrected within four business days after registration closes. The county clerk answers questions about a particular registration.
