Tips have to reach the minimum. The lower tipped rate applies only if the employer shows by its payroll records that tips plus wages in the week come to at least the applicable minimum.
An employer furnishing meals or lodging under the department's rules may deduct up to $58 a week or $8.30 a day for lodging, and $87 a week or $4.15 a meal. The department may not set different minimum wages for men and women.
