Appealing Unemployment
A.R.S. 23-773 — seven calendar days after delivery, or fifteen after mailing, then thirty days to the appeals board
The first deadline. Unless the claimant or an interested party files an appeal within seven calendar days after delivery of the notification, or within fifteen calendar days after it was mailed to the last known address, the determination becomes final and benefits are paid or denied accordingly.

Information on request. An interested party may ask for information about a deputy's determination, and the department provides it in writing within five days after receiving the request: the facts considered and relied on, the statutes, regulations or other authority relied on, and the reasoning applied.
How an appeal is filed, and the one exception. The department's rules allow an appeal to be filed in writing, electronically or by telephone. Before the time to appeal runs out, an interested party may instead request a reconsidered determination; the department denies it or issues one within seven calendar days. A denied request is treated as an appeal, and where a reconsidered determination issues, the time to appeal runs from the date it issues. The employer and the claimant may each make no more than one request for reconsideration on a case.
The department's later reconsideration on its own motion, and on newly discovered evidence within a year, is not set out here. What disqualifies a person from benefits is on the unemployment benefits page. A particular claim is a question for the state's unemployment agency, its appeal tribunal, or a licensed Arizona attorney.
