Iowa Code § 321.343 — buses and hazardous cargo stop within 50 feet but not nearer than 15 feet
- A vehicle carrying passengers for hire, a school bus, or a vehicle with hazardous material required to stop, stops within 50 feet but not less than 15 feet from the nearest rail.
- While stopped, the driver listens and looks both ways for a train and its signals, and goes on only when it is safe.
- A commercial driver not required to stop slows and checks the tracks are clear, and stops if they are not.
