Turn Signals
Iowa Code § 321.314 — a turn only when it is reasonably safe, and only after a signal
No one turns a vehicle from a direct course on a highway until the move can be made with reasonable safety, and then only after sounding the horn if a pedestrian may be affected, or giving an appropriate signal if another vehicle may be affected.
- Signals may be given by hand and arm, or by a mechanical or electrical directional signal.
- Directional signals are visible and understandable by day and in darkness from at least one hundred feet in front and behind.
- A vehicle equipped with directional signals keeps them in good working condition at all times.
- A disabled vehicle, or one that is a hazard calling for unusual care, may show four directional signals flashing at once.
