Where Parking Is Barred
Iowa Code § 321.358 — not within five feet of a hydrant or fifty feet of a railroad crossing
Except to avoid conflict with traffic or on the direction of an officer or a traffic control device, no one stops, stands or parks a vehicle in these places.

Also barred: double parking on the roadway side of a parked vehicle, on a bridge or elevated structure outside cities or in a tunnel, where signs prohibit it, and on a city street when a snow removal ordinance prohibits it.
