Lanes and Passing
KRS 189.300 — keep right, slower traffic to the right edge, and three feet past a bicycle
- A driver travels on the right side of the highway whenever possible, using the left only to pass when it is clear far enough ahead.
- A passing driver returns to the proper lane as soon as practicable, and before coming within 200 feet of an approaching vehicle when in the oncoming lane.
- A vehicle moving slowly keeps as close as practicable to the right edge, leaving faster traffic room to pass on the left, unless signs or markings say otherwise.
Three feet for a bicycle. On a road with one lane in each direction, a driver passes a bicycle or electric low speed scooter on the left at not less than three feet, and keeps that distance until safely past; with another lane available, the driver moves over a lane if it is reasonably safe.
