Unemployment After a Job Ends
KRS 341.370 — quitting without good cause or a misconduct firing disqualifies, and 30 days to appeal
- A worker discharged for misconduct or dishonesty connected with the work, or who left suitable work voluntarily without good cause attributable to the employment, is disqualified.
- Misconduct includes knowingly breaking a reasonable, uniformly enforced rule and unexcused poor attendance, among the listed examples.
- The disqualification lasts until the worker has worked in ten weeks and earned ten times the weekly benefit rate.
Benefits are paid only for a week the worker has claimed, and the first eligible week of a benefit year is an unpaid waiting week, paid later once the claim's remaining balance is no more than that week's amount.
Thirty days. A party may appeal a determination to a referee within 30 days after it was mailed, and a referee's decision is final unless further appealed within 30 days after it was mailed.
