Where You May Not Park
Md. Code, Transp. § 21-1003 — the places a vehicle may not stop, stand or park, the distances, and a $25 fine at an accessible space
Three verbs, three lists. The section applies except as necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic, or in compliance with law or the directions of a police officer or traffic control device. In some places a person may not stop, stand or park; in others, stand or park; in the last, park.
- In front of a public driveway.
- On a sidewalk, in an intersection, or on a crosswalk.
- Between a safety zone and the curb, or within 30 feet of points on the curb opposite its ends, unless a different length is indicated.
- Alongside or opposite an excavation or obstruction, where it would obstruct traffic.
- On a bridge or other elevated structure, or in a highway tunnel.
- On any entrance or exit ramp of a highway with two or more lanes moving in the same direction.
- Where an official sign prohibits stopping.

Spaces, ramps and zones for individuals with disabilities. A person may not stop, stand or park in a space or zone marked as restricted for individuals with disabilities unless it is for the use of one, in front of a curb ramp designed for their use, or in front of or on a passenger loading zone designed or marked for their use. A conviction for the restricted space or the curb ramp carries a fine of $25.
Cities, counties and posted signs set their own parking limits on top of these, and those are not on this page. What a particular ticket means is a question for a licensed Maryland attorney.
