The 10 days. A notice of suspension or revocation is personally served or sent by certified mail, states the duration, and advises of the right to request a hearing in writing within 10 days after it is sent, not counting weekends and legal holidays. Without a request, it takes effect at the end of the 10-day period.
A professional driver may not be called into the program until 8 points. Insurance surcharges, commercial license rules, suspensions for a single serious offense such as impaired driving, and reinstatement fees are set elsewhere and are not on this page. Counting the points on a particular record is a question for the state's licensing agency or a licensed Maryland attorney.
