Vehicles and people. Consumer fireworks are not ignited or discharged within, or thrown from, a motorized vehicle or watercraft, and no ignited fireworks are placed or thrown into or at a vehicle, or at or near any person or group of people.
Age. Fireworks are not sold at retail to a child under the age of fourteen years unless the child is in the presence of a parent or guardian.
Banned for consumers. Ground salutes known as cherry bombs, M-80's, M-100's and M-1000's, and other tubular salutes, are prohibited from shipment into, manufacture, possession, sale or use within Missouri for consumer use.
Local power. The state's fireworks sections do not affect the power of any city, town or village, or any county with a charter form of government, to regulate or prohibit fireworks within its limits.
The level. A violation of the fireworks sections is a class A misdemeanor, except that a violation of the ground salute ban is a class D felony.
Whether fireworks are allowed on a particular day at a particular address depends on the city or county ordinance there, which is not on this page. A particular charge is a question for the court, or a licensed Missouri attorney.
