Harassment And Stalking
Mo. Rev. Stat. § 565.090, § 565.091 and § 565.225 — emotional distress, and stalking as a felony
Harassment in the second degree is, without good cause, doing any act with the purpose of causing another person emotional distress; it is a class A misdemeanor for a first offense. When the act does cause that person emotional distress, it is harassment in the first degree, a class E felony.
Stalking in the first degree is purposely following or disturbing someone through a course of conduct, meaning conduct with no legitimate purpose that would frighten, intimidate or emotionally distress a reasonable person, together with a threat meant to make the person fear for their safety or their family's, or while violating an order of protection or a condition of release. It is a class E felony for a first offense.
Neither harassment section applies to law enforcement officers conducting investigations.
