When A Meeting Is Public
Neb. Rev. Stat. § 84-1408 and Neb. Rev. Stat. § 84-1411 — open to attend and speak, advance notice, and an agenda fixed twenty-four hours ahead
Public business. The formation of public policy is public business and may not be conducted in secret. Every meeting of a public body is open so citizens may attend and speak, apart from what the Open Meetings Act and other law allow.
Each public body gives reasonable advance publicized notice of the time and place of each meeting. The notice carries the agenda known at the time, or says where a current agenda is available.
Except for emergency items, the agenda may not be altered later than twenty-four hours before the meeting. A particular meeting is a question for a licensed Nebraska attorney.
