Speed Limits

NRS 484B.600 — never over 80, a fine of no more than $20 a mile over, and a misdemeanor at 30 over

In Nevada it is unlawful to drive faster than is reasonable and proper for the traffic, surface, width, weather and other conditions, fast enough to endanger anyone, faster than the posted limit, at a speed that results in injury to a person or property, and in any event faster than 80 miles per hour.

A cap on the fine. A fine for most speeding violations may not exceed $20 for each mile per hour over the posted limit or the proper speed. Driving 30 miles per hour or more over the posted limit is a misdemeanor, and speeding that causes physical injury or property damage carries a civil penalty of not more than $1,000.

A court may reduce a speeding citation to a violation that is not a moving violation where the person admits it, pays the whole fine and fees by the first appearance date, and gives the court a copy of their driving record, unless that record shows a pattern of moving violations over the preceding 10 years.
