Towed From A Private Lot

NRS 487.038 — a sign with the police number, and a call to the police on every tow

An owner of real property can have a vehicle parked without authorization towed to the nearest public garage or storage yard, if a sign in plain view prohibits or restricts public parking and shows the telephone number of the police department or sheriff.

The police are told. Unless notice was given another way the law allows, the police or sheriff is told orally when the vehicle was removed, where from, and where it was taken.

No sign is needed for a vehicle in an unmarked disabled parking space, or on residential property with a single-family home. The vehicle's owner bears the towing and storage costs.
