Where You May Not Park

- On a bridge or elevated structure, or in a tunnel.
- Double parked, on the road side of a vehicle stopped or parked at the curb.
- Alongside an excavation or obstruction where it would block traffic.
- Wherever official signs prohibit it.
Those apply except when needed to avoid other traffic or to obey the law, a police officer or a traffic-control device. A bicycle, electric bicycle or electric scooter may be parked on a sidewalk if it does not impede pedestrians.
The crosswalk distance, through 2026. Through December 31, 2026, a local authority may set a greater distance from a crosswalk by ordinance, and an officer enforcing a crosswalk distance may do so only where a sign gave notice of it, and then only with a warning.
