Bad Checks
N.D.C.C. § 6-08-16 — an infraction up to $100, rising to a class C felony over $1,000

The writer also owes collection costs of no more than forty dollars. If the check and those costs are not paid within ten days of a notice of dishonor, the holder may sue for the lesser of two hundred dollars or three times the check. A postdated check knowingly taken does not count.
