Hindering an Officer

13 V.S.A. § 3018 — intentionally getting in the way of an arrest of someone else

  • Intentionally hindering an officer's arrest of another person, when it would reasonably appear the officer is a law enforcement officer, is a crime.
  • A first offense carries up to one year and $500.
  • A second or later offense carries up to two years and $1,000.

Hindering any executive, judicial, law enforcement, civil or military officer acting under State authority, or taking a weapon from an officer, carries up to three years and $500.
