Short Term Family Leave
21 V.S.A. § 472a — up to four hours in 30 days, and 24 hours in a year, for a family member's school or health needs
- An employee may take unpaid leave of up to four hours in any 30 day period and up to 24 hours in any 12 month period.
- It covers school activities tied to a family member's education, such as a parent teacher conference, routine medical or dental visits, other care appointments, and a family member's medical emergency.
- The employer may require it in segments of at least two hours.
- The employee gives notice as early as possible, and at least seven days ahead except in an emergency.
- The employee may choose to use accrued paid leave.
