Unemployment After a Job Ends
21 V.S.A. § 1348 — 30 days to appeal a determination, and a hearing within 30 days after that
- A discharge for misconduct connected with the work disqualifies for six to 15 weeks after the claim, as the Commissioner decides.
- Leaving without good cause attributable to the employer, or a discharge for gross misconduct, disqualifies until the person has earned more than six times the weekly benefit amount in new employment.
- Gross misconduct means flagrant, wanton, intentional disregard of the employer's interest, such as theft, fraud or intoxication.
Thirty days to appeal. Any interested party may appeal a determination to an appeals referee within 30 days after notice of it, and the appeal is heard within 30 days after it is filed.
