Discrimination at Work
W.S. 27-9-105 — employers of two or more, with six months to file a complaint
An employer may not refuse to hire, fire, promote, demote, or treat differently in pay or terms of work a qualified person because of age, sex, race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry or pregnancy, or a qualified disabled person.
Who handles this in Wyoming: Protection & Advocacy System, Inc. and Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, Labor Standards; and legal aid programs, lawyer referral and the state offices, listed in the Wyoming directory.
- An employer is the state and its subdivisions, and anyone employing two or more people in Wyoming, but not religious organizations.
- The age protection covers people at least forty years of age.
A person may file a verified written complaint with the department of workforce services within six months of the violation. The department investigates and decides, and either side may ask for a fair hearing.
