What Creditors Cannot Take
Iowa Code § 627.6 — one vehicle up to $7,000, tools of the trade up to $10,000, and household goods
- A wedding or engagement ring, and other jewelry up to $2,000.
- One shotgun, and either one rifle or one musket.
- Clothing, household furnishings and household goods kept for use.
- One motor vehicle up to $7,000, and tools of a trade other than farming up to $10,000.
Wages are exempt from garnishment to the extent federal law provides, and no more than $250 a year may be garnished for each judgment creditor when the employee's earnings are not expected to exceed $12,000 that year.
