The Lemon Law
R.I. Gen. Laws § 31-5.2-3 — a refund or a replacement, the buyer's choice, within one year or fifteen thousand miles
The term of protection is one year or fifteen thousand miles from delivery of a new vehicle, whichever comes first, and the same again for a replacement vehicle.
The buyer's choice. If the manufacturer or its dealer cannot fix a defect covered by warranty after a reasonable number of attempts, the manufacturer takes the vehicle back and, at the buyer's option, refunds the full price, with trade in credit, less a reasonable allowance for use, or replaces it.
A manufacturer replacing the vehicle has thirty days to deliver a comparable one, or it refunds the price instead.
A particular vehicle is a question for a licensed Rhode Island attorney.
