When Your Data Is Breached

R.I. Gen. Laws § 11-49.3-4 — notice to every affected resident, within thirty days from an agency and forty-five from a business

Any agency or person holding personal information gives notice of a disclosure or breach that poses a significant risk of identity theft to every Rhode Island resident whose information was, or is reasonably believed to have been, taken.

Thirty days for agencies. Notice comes in the most expedient time possible, and for a state or municipal agency no later than thirty calendar days after confirming the breach and the information needed for the notice.

Any other person or business gives the notice no later than forty-five calendar days after confirming the breach and the information needed for it.

A particular breach is a question for a licensed Rhode Island attorney.
