A Sale at Your Door
9 V.S.A. § 2454 — three business days to cancel a home solicitation sale
- A consumer may cancel a home solicitation sale until midnight of the third business day after signing or otherwise agreeing to buy.
- Cancellation occurs when notice reaches the seller, and a mailed notice counts when it is deposited properly addressed and stamped.
- Any notice that shows the consumer does not intend to be bound is enough.
- A sale cannot be cancelled when the consumer asked in a handwritten, signed request for urgent emergency work that the seller has begun.
