Minimum Wage
W.S. 27-4-202 — a state rate of $5.15 an hour, and $2.13 for tipped work
Wyoming's own minimum wage is $5.15 an hour. This is the state rate. Federal law sets its own minimum for the employers it covers, and this page does not cover the federal law.
Who handles this in Wyoming: Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, Labor Standards and Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, general inquiries; and legal aid programs, lawyer referral and the state offices, listed in the Wyoming directory.
- A tipped employee is paid at least $2.13 an hour, and if wages and tips in a pay period do not reach the minimum, the employer pays the difference.
- A tipped employee is one who customarily and regularly receives more than $30 a month in tips.
- An employee under twenty years of age may be paid $4.25 an hour for the first ninety consecutive days with that employer, and no employer may displace other workers to hire at that rate.
An employer that pays less is liable in a civil action for the unpaid minimum wage, with reasonable attorney fees and costs.
